'I wanted to prove that nothing was 100 percent secure once uploaded to the Internet,' Jones told Mashable in an email. He said he wants to point out the 'dangers in sending images that you don't want people to see.'

Jones has created multiple apps under the name Daps-Apps, and his latest goes for $0.99 on Apple's app store. But, as Jones pointed out, he is not the first to build a Snapchat-saver. Sepia Software developed one called Screenshot Save that also lets you keep your Snapchats without alerting the sender, but it costs a dollar more.

And, of course, Snapchats were always susceptible to anyone who took a quick screenshot, which the company has acknowledged.

'Ideally Snapchat will just put a system in place to stop people being able to save images in this way or any other,' Jones said.

He's already submitted a new version of the app to Apple that will allow users to send saved Snapchats to other Snapchat users or via email, according to a separate email statement. The updated version should be available sometime in mid to late October.
